The incident caused the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the multi-storey parking facility.

Two individuals are now facing charges following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage stolen after exiting a car park lift, police said.

A young child was among those injured during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were eventually allowed to go home.

This event – described by police as was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
